The Meadows and High Chelmer shopping centres are just a short walk from the development and boast a mixture of big brand names and small independents.
The retail experience continues outside, along High Street and into Moulsham Street, with its many specialist stores. Chelmsford’s market, usually held five days a week, is located next to High Chelmer shopping centre and features stalls selling a wide selection of fresh produce and household goods. High Street is also home to a weekend market, held Fridays and Saturdays, which focuses on food, including artisan and gourmet products.
Three retail parks – Chelmer Village, Riverside and Homelands – are all within two miles of the development, while out of town, outlet village Freeport Braintree, can be reached by car in 24 minutes.
For a huge choice of retailers and dining, head to Westfield Stratford City, a state-of-the-art shopping and leisure destination next to the London Olympic Park. Chocolate-box villages and stately homes are dotted around the area, including Hylands House, set in 574 acres of historic parkland (less than six miles away), and the 16th century Ingatestone Hall (eight miles away).
Staying in Chelmsford, opportunities to relax and unwind are many. The Civic Theatre and adjacent Cramphorn Theatre in Fairfield Road stage plays, concerts, workshops and comedy shows, while many local pubs and clubs host live music for fans of all genres.
An eight-screen cinema next to Meadows Shopping Centre presents the latest blockbusters and movie favourites for the whole family, or head to Westfield Stratford City and one of the largest all-digital cinemas in Europe with 17 screens to choose from.
