Priory Grange is located off Stone Path Drive in Hatfield Peverel, less than half a mile from the village centre, seven miles from Chelmsford, 17 miles from Colchester and 49 miles from central London. The nearest railway station is Hatfield Peverel and from there frequent trains run to Chelmsford, Stratford London and London Liverpool Street. Major roads nearby include the A12, the A120 an the A414. Stansted Airport is 20 miles away via the A120.
The development lies within the administrative boundaries of Hatfield Peverel Parish Council, Braintree District Council and Essex County Council.
There are a number of well-regarded schools locally. These include Hatfield Peverel Infant School and Hatfield Peverel St Andrew’s Junior School, which are both within walking distance. Others in the area include Chipping Hill Primary School and Terling CE Primary for younger children, while New Rickstones Academy, Maltings Academy and Chelmer Valley High School cater for older pupils aged 11 – 18 years.
Hatfield Peverel is home to several convenience stores, however Witham, three miles away, and Chelmsford, six miles away are larger retail destinations with both offering a good selection of shops. These include Newlands and The Grove outdoor shopping centres in Witham, as well as High Chelmer and Meadows shopping centres, Bond Street and High Street in Chelmsford. Markets are held in both towns several days each week and farmers’ markets take place monthly.
The village has a recreation ground at its heart, with a games area, children’s playground, pond and wood, while the Keith Bigden Memorial ground, five minutes’ drive from the development, is home to the local football club. Hatfield Peverel Cricket Club’s ground is just a few minutes walk from Priory Grange on Church Road, and the village hall is 10 minutes’ walk away on Maldon Road.
The nearest leisure centre is less than three miles away in Witham – it has a swimming pool, gym, fitness studios, squash and tennis courts, and there are no less than seven golf clubs within 15 minutes’ drive of the development.
Chelmsford has two multiscreen cinemas – Odeon on Kings Head Walk and Everyman on Bond Street – that screen the latest blockbusters, family favourites, independent and classic films. Live drama, music and comedy are staged at the Civic Theatre and the Cramphorn Studio, in the city centre, and community theatre productions and workshops take place in the Old Court Theatre.
Regular train services run from Hatfield Peverel to Colchester, Chelmsford, Stratford London and London Liverpool Street (journey time of around 40 minutes), and the station is just half a mile from Priory Grange. There are also several major roads within convenient travelling distance, including the A12 for East London, Colchester and Ipswich, the A120, which links to the M11 for travel to London and north to Cambridgeshire, and the A414 to Harlow, Hertford and St Albans. Local buses connect the development with nearby towns and villages, including Witham, Chelmsford, Maldon and Colchester. Stansted Airport is around 30 minutes’ drive away via the A120.
