Burdon Rise is located on Burdon Lane, around two miles from Doxford International Business Park, four miles from Sunderland city centre, 10 miles from Durham and 14 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne.

There are a number of well-regarded schools locally. For younger children these include Mill Hill Primary School, New Silksworth Academy Junior (both within walking distance) and St Paul’s C of E Primary School. Southmoor Academy and Seaham High School are among those catering for pupils aged 11 – 18 years, while Sunderland College offers a range of apprenticeships, A levels, further and higher education courses. The University of Sunderland is around 10 minutes’ drive away, Durham University is 20 minutes’ drive away and Teesside University around 40 minutes’ away by car.

Residents of these new homes in Sunderland will find several shops – including two supermarkets – within walking distance of the development and more just a short drive away. The Bridges mall in Sunderland city centre is home to around 100 retailers, including chain stores, boutiques, lifestyle and specialist shops. The Empire Theatre 10 minutes by car from the development, hosts a comprehensive programme of family entertainment, live music, drama and comedy, while community theatre The Royalty stages several plays each season, including a family pantomime at Christmas. Film fans can catch up with the latest blockbusters at the Empire in the city centre and Cineworld at Dalton Park – both around 15 minutes’ drive away.

Sunderland’s location close to the coast means sandy beaches are just a short car journey away. Award-winning Seaburn and Roker beaches are popular with families drawn by their golden sands and traditional cafés, as is neighbouring Roker Park with its miniature railway, lake and children’s play areas.

The nearest train station to Burdon Rise is Park Lane Metro, 10 minutes’ drive away, for trains to Gateshead, Newcastle and Newcastle International Airport. Mainline services run from Sunderland Station to a variety of destinations, such as Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Whitby and Newcastle.

Major roads easily accessible from the development include the A1 and the A19. Newcastle International Aiport is 23 miles away and Teesside International Airport is 30 miles away, both via the A1.
