Local Area

Saint Sannans Field is just on the edge of Aberbargoed town centre, with everyday amenities and community on the doorstep. Bargoed is also adjacent with great links from the development, and offers even more in terms of shopping, dining, and culture. The towns are in the stunning semi-rural space between Bannau Brycheiniog and Cardiff, both of which are reachable in a reasonable drive.

Motorists are close to important arterial roads locally, and under half an hour from the M4 which delivers across South Wales and as far east as London.

This development falls under the administration of Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Aberbargoed has its own leisure for residents, including the Hangar Youth & Community Centre, and Aberbargoed Grasslands both minutes from the door. Along with local businesses, the village community is a close-knit and thriving place to call home.

Outdoor exercise has never met a more beautiful location. Locally, the surrounding countryside is postcard perfect, and spots like the Tails of Blackwoof dog park, Pen-Y-Fan Pond, and Parc Cwm Darran give purpose and destination within the landscape. The Brecon Beacons beyond offer a platitude of days out, whether it’s a drive out to a viewing spot for the perfect picnic, or a boots-on scenario to earn your Sunday lunch.

Families with young children will be satisfied with the choice of schools around Aberbargoed and beyond.

Markham Primary School is a two-minute drive away, and Aberbargoed Primary School a 13-minute walk, both just enough time to rush through last-minute homework on the morning commute.

Heolddu Comprehensive School is a seven-minute drive from home, and provides a great option for secondary school students, as does Islwyn High School, a nine-minute drive.

College options can be found a drive away in the surrounding towns, while universities are most closely located towards Wales’ south coast.

Bargoed train station is a mile away, with journeys to Bridgend, Cardiff Central, and as far south as Barry Island.

Motorists will reach the M4 after half an hour, the south of Wales’ key connecting motorway travelling beyond into England and reaching London a few hours later.

Cardiff International Airport is less than an hour’s drive, meaning you could be living a few hours from a sun-soaked week abroad at any time.

Two local pubs within walking distance of the neighbourhood provide a warm welcome and somewhere to dine casually local to home. Aberbargoed centre also presents shopping options, a public library, a pharmacy and more for everyday essentials.

Bargoed has a little more to offer than what’s on the doorstep, with more choices for shopping, a cinema, and some favourite-name restaurants.

Cardiff is 20 miles away, just a short distance on the train, and provides world-class shopping with streets of retail as well as indoor shopping centres. The food choices span from independent, award-winning, dockside, chain names, and casual locations; Wales’ capital has it all.

Buying Calculators

Mortgage Calculator

Our simple mortgage calculator will give you an idea of how you much you could borrow for a mortgage, and how your monthly repayments could be impacted by your deposit, repayment term, or mortgage interest rate.

It’s only an estimate, and not a formal application or lender offer, but we hope you’ll find it useful in understanding what you can afford – or how much deposit you need to save.

Your monthly repayments

Repayment mortgage
What's this?
If you opt for a repayment mortgage, you will need to make monthly payments to your mortgage lender, which consist of a portion of the amount you originally borrowed (sometimes called the ‘capital balance’), as well as any interested that has been incurred on your loan.
Interest only mortgage
What's this?
Choosing an interest-only mortgage means that you will only need to make monthly payments towards the interest on the amount you originally borrowed. With this type of loan, you don’t need to repay any of the capital balance (the amount you borrowed to buy your home), for the duration of the interest only period.
