For city centre attractions, central Manchester is around 10 miles away. Entertainment includes galleries, museums, theatres, and an aquarium.

Everyday essentials can be acquired at one of the nearby grocery stores, with two well-known supermarkets a four-minute drive away in Shaw town centre. High street favourites are found in the neighbouring towns; Rochdale Riverside shopping centre and Rochdale Exchange are both around 15 minutes away by car, and Oldham town centre is an 11-minute drive away.

Manchester city centre has an extensive shopping scene. Retail and independent stores line the streets, and city-goers benefit from several shopping centres. The Trafford Centre, one of the largest retail spaces in the UK, boasts a substantial number of shops, as well as eateries and various entertainment options.

For dining, a traditional pub is a 15-minute walk away from the planned homes. For choices a little further out, the nearby town of Oldham boasts a selection of sought-after cuisines including British, Italian, and Indian, among others.

Parents are well served by a selection of schools. Popular primary schools include Buckstones Primary School, East Cropton St George’s C of E Primary School, and Beal Vale Primary School. For children of secondary school age, The Crompton House C of E Academy is a mile away, Hollingwood Academy is a 20-minute drive away, and Kingsway Park High School takes 10 minutes by car.

Universities in the area include the prestigious University of Manchester, The University of Salford, and Manchester Metropolitan University.

Shaw has fantastic transport links to Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale and beyond, making it an ideal choice for commuters. The M62 is just 15 minutes’ drive away from the proposed development, with the upcoming homes also having easy access to the M60 and several major A-roads. 

  For rail travel, nearby train station Greenfield is six miles away, featuring direct trains to Huddersfield, Manchester, and Stalybridge. For train journeys across the country, Manchester Piccadilly railway station is 10 miles away. From here, passengers can arrive at London, Edinburgh, and Leeds, among others.

Shaw and Crompton tram stop is only half a mile away, benefitting from park and ride facilities. The tram takes passengers through zones three, two, and one, with stops including Rochdale town centre, Manchester Victoria, and Exchange Square.

For travel across the country and internationally, Manchester Airport is just a 40-minute drive away. Leeds Bradford Airport, another close choice, is an hour’s drive away.
