First-time buyers find peaceful location for their new home in Suffolk.
A couple who were renting a Victorian terraced house on a busy main road in Newmarket are loving the peace and tranquillity they have found in their new home in Stowmarket. Junaid and Omotoke Bakare, both 32, have bought their first home at our Pinewood Grange development and they are enjoying their quiet surroundings.
Omotoke said: “There’s a lot of greenery here and you wake up in the morning and you can hear the wind. It’s a serene place.”
“It feels great,” said Junaid. “When we moved in, it felt surreal and it took me a couple of days to realise, we have our keys now, it’s ours. It’s a place to call your own.”
They have purchased a three-bedroom detached house in our Quilter style, which has an open-plan kitchen/dining room and a living room which each have French doors leading out to the garden. There is also a utility room with outside access.
Buying a new build was a priority, especially after living in a much older house, they said. Junaid said: “That was because new builds tend to be warmer and that was something I thought was essential. We had rented an older house, and I didn’t want any issues with the cold.”
Omotoke agrees. “It’s the warmth I enjoyed during the winter. It’s warmer than the terraced house we rented. I also like the fact that there’s a lot of space. We are close to our neighbours, but we still have space. And there’s a little stream not so far from us and it’s good to see that, and the birds everywhere and the trees. It feels like a different place, a different country almost.”
Bellway stood out in terms of customer service. They were ready to do more than we asked. Alice was very supportive whenever we felt lost in the process, and she was happy to take our questions, and she was willing to help.”
The couple first considered buying in Stowmarket after visiting friends there. “We liked the area and thought it might be a nice place to live,” Junaid said.
They looked at other houses at different developments around the area, but said the customer service they received, especially from Alice (sales advisor) kept them coming back to Pinewood Grange. Junaid said: “We had more than one option, but Bellway stood out in terms of customer service. They were ready to do more than we asked. Alice was very supportive whenever we felt lost in the process, and she was happy to take our questions, and she was willing to help.”
On their first visit they looked at the showhomes and were shown the property that they decided to buy. Junaid said: “It was more spacious than where we came from, and we loved the kitchen. It’s my favourite part of the house. We liked the colour of fittings and flooring and the natural light.”

The purchasing process only took around two months, and they reserved their home in August and received their keys at the end of October.
They paid £324,995 for their home. Bellway offered a five per cent deposit contribution and Junaid and Omotoke paid the other five per cent to make a 10 per cent deposit. Their monthly mortgage payment is £1,400.
Now, they have settled in and are enjoying their home with plans for planting flower beds in the garden.
Junaid said: “The quality of life is good in Stowmarket. The different houses still have space. There’s plenty of space for pedestrians, bicycles and cars.”
I love getting home from work and walking the dogs out on the green space opposite our house and I reflect on just how lucky we are to be here."
