A selection of high-street and independent stores, including a large supermarket, can be found at the Killingworth Centre, less than two miles from Stephenson Park. Slightly further afield, Silverlink Retail Park is a 10-minute drive away and Newcastle city centre, with its mix of department stores, designer boutiques, specialist retailers and well-known chains, is less than 20 minutes’ drive away.

Leisure

Locally, leisure facilities include The Lakeside Centre, which has a swimming pool, gym, dance studio and sports hall, and Killingworth Lakeside Park, which offers opportunities for fishing and boating, as well as providing a home to wildlife – especially birds – wild flowers and woodland. Residents will find two traditional pubs in the village – The Killingworth Arms and The Plough Inn – as well as a huge selection of bars, award-winning restaurants and cafés in the centre of Newcastle. The city is a major cultural destination for the North East, with an excellent selection of theatres, cinemas, art galleries and museums open to visitors.

Education

For families, there are a number of well-regarded schools in the area, including West Moor Primary School, Amberley Primary School and St Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary School for younger pupils and George Stephenson High School for older students. The closest universities to the development are Newcastle University and the University of Northumbria, both around six miles away.

Transport

Major roads easily accessible from these new homes in Killingworth include the A1, A19 and the A189. The nearest Metro station is at Palmersville, just over a mile away, from where regular train services run to Newcastle, Gateshead and South Shields. For domestic and international flights, Newcastle Airport is a 20-minute drive away via the A1.
