Tamworth is a large, thriving market town located within Staffordshire. Barley Fields lies north of the town centre, and is approximately 10 minutes’ drive from the A5.

Tamworth offers several indoor leisure opportunities, including The SnowDome, an indoor snow and ice leisure centre which offers winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding and ice skating, as well as a swimming pool. For outdoor leisure, Tameside Local Nature Reserve is within a 10-minute drive from Barley Fields, along the River Tame; here visitors can enjoy local wildlife and nature trails. Also of note is Tamworth Castle, a Norman castle and historic Grade I listed building that also houses a museum.

There are two 18-hole golf courses within the local area: Whittington Heath Golf Club and Drayton Park Golf Club, both of which are approximately 10 minutes’ drive from the development.

For family days out, Twycross Zoo is around a 12-minute car journey from these new homes in Tamworth, and set within 80 acres of parkland. The zoo is also home to the World Primate Centre, where many endangered primate species can be seen up close. Drayton Manor Theme Park is approximately 10 minutes’ drive from home, offering an assortment of rides and attractions for all ages plus a large zoo.

A wide selection of retail opportunities can be found in Tamworth, including supermarkets, high-street and independent retailers, a shopping centre and retail parks. Tamworth also offers a variety of well-known chain and local restaurants, covering a range of cuisines, and several notable Indian restaurants.

For destination shopping, Birmingham is 40 minutes away by car and has a number of commercial districts, plus The Bullring mall which boasts around 160 stores, a range of casual eateries and a multiplex cinema. There is also The Mailbox and Grand Central; both shopping centres offer premium brands and department stores, as well as cafés and restaurants.

Within driving distance of Barley Fields, there are a number of Michelin-starred restaurants, the nearest of which is Peel’s at Hampton Manor, around 30 minutes’ drive away in Solihull. This gourmet establishment has also won four AA rosettes and is known for simple, seasonal dishes, made with local or home-grown produce. Birmingham boasts several Michelin-starred restaurants, including Adam’s and Purnell’s, which both offer contemporary fine-dining experiences.

Families are catered for, with a selection of well-regarded schools within around a five-minute drive from Barley Fields, including St. Leonard’s C of E Primary School, St. Elizabeth Catholic Primary School and, for older students (aged 11 to 16), The Rawlett School Academy and Landau Forte Academy QEMS. There are also future plans to build a primary school within the Barley Fields development (subject to approval).

For those interested in further education, the University of Birmingham is approximately 40 minutes’ drive from home.

Residents at Barley Fields will benefit from good local road connections, including ease of access to the M6 and M42, both less than fifteen minutes’ drive away from the development. Tamworth town centre is approximately a five-minute drive away, via the A513 and Ashby Road/B5493, while Birmingham city centre is around a 30-minute drive from home. Nearby Tamworth railway station offers regular services to major cities including London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Cardiff and Glasgow.

For international travel, Birmingham airport is less than half an hour’s drive from Barley Fields.
