Leigh is situated on the outskirts of Greater Manchester, to the west of Manchester city centre. From junction 5 of the M61, Kingswood Park is about 10 minutes away.
A popular area with families, Leigh offers a broad range of leisure and sports venues covering entertainment for all ages, as well as open countryside at Pennington Flash Country Park. Spinning Gate Shopping Centre, less than three miles from the development, has a multiplex cinema. An indoor trampoline park is located in Westhoughton, which can be reached in around 15 minutes by car.
There are a number of sports facilities in Leigh, including Leigh Sports Village, which is around three miles from Kingswood Park. The village incorporates the home stadium of the Leigh Centurions Rugby League Club and the Manchester United U23s, as well as the well-equipped Leigh Leisure Centre.
Leigh Cricket, Tennis and Bowling Club is around 10 minutes from Kingswood Park, and keen golfers have the choice of three established courses just a short drive from home. These are Hart Common Golf Course, Hindley Hall Golf Club, and Pennington Golf Course, which is part of Pennington Flash Country Park, a popular location for runners, cyclists and dog walkers. From Leigh, the Peak District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks are both around an hour’s drive to the east and north respectively, making them ideal destinations for days out.
Leigh town centre offers a range of familiar high-street stores, restaurants and coffee shops, and is 10 minutes by car from Kingswood Park. There are also a number of shopping centres and retail parks in Leigh, including Spinning Gate Shopping Centre and The Loom Retail Park in the town centre.
The town also offers an assortment of chain and independent dining outlets, easily accessible from the development. The Nevison Country Inn offers traditional food and freshly-cooked Sunday lunches by the log fire, or for food and drink with a view visit the Waterside Inn, which overlooks the canal.
For a broader retail choice as well as family restaurants and entertainment, the Trafford Centre is around half an hour’s drive away. Manchester’s vibrant city centre can be reached by car in around 40 minutes, and offers a more varied dining experience, which includes upmarket eateries such as Adam Reid at the French, Umezushi and The Rabbit in the Moon. For families with young children there are a number of well-regarded primary schools in the local area to Kingswood Park. These include Leigh Westleigh Methodist Primary School and Hindley Green Community Primary School, which are both around a 15-minute walk from the development, and Twelve Apostles Catholic Primary School which is just over a mile away. For older pupils, several secondary schools are situated nearby.
A range of academic and vocational courses and apprenticeships are provided at Wigan and Leigh College, less than five miles away. Leigh is also within commuting distance of the University of Liverpool, the University of Salford, Manchester Metropolitan University, and the University of Manchester, which was ranked 54th in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018.
Kingswood Park has very good transport links for those working in or around Leigh, as well as for commuters travelling to Salford, Manchester or Liverpool.
Bus services connect the development with surrounding towns and villages. For travel around Greater Manchester residents have the choice of two local train stations, Daisy Hill in Westhoughton, less than two miles away, and Hag Fold in Atherton which is around three miles from home. Both stations are on the Atherton line and offer direct trains to Wigan Wallgate, and Manchester Victoria stations for onward connections to Liverpool and Leeds.
Major roads easily accessible from the development include the M61, and the A580 for travel to Liverpool and Manchester city centre. The A580 also links to the M6, and M60 Manchester Outer Ring Road for travel around Greater Manchester and to Manchester Airport.
