Residents will discover a series of entertainment and leisure amenities in the vicinity of Heron’s Mead, with a multiplex cinema and a gym within 20 minutes’ walk of the development.

Just over four miles away is Jump Adventure Trampoline Park, which has a ninja warrior course, interactive dodgeball games, and other activities.

Less than a 20-minute drive from Heron’s Mead is Walnut Tree Farm Park. This working farm has tractor rides, play areas, petting areas, go-kart racing, horse and pony rides, and much more.

RSPB Newport Wetlands is roughly a 10-minute drive from the development. There are a number of trails to walk that take in the views of the East Usk Lighthouse, the River Usk, and local woodlands. The area covers 1,080 acres of land and is a popular location for birdwatching.

Just over four miles from Heron’s Mead is the Celtic Manor Resort, the host venue of the 2010 Ryder Cup, which features a variety of hotels, several spas, first-class health clubs, three golf courses, and a number of tennis courts.

Shopping and dining

For everyday essentials, there are several large supermarkets situated under two miles from the development, based near to Newport Retail Park. This retail park also has a variety of stores, restaurants, and other useful amenities.

Around a 10-minute drive from Heron’s Mead is the Kingsway Shopping Centre, which consists of a number of stores and cafes, as well as a 24-hour gym.

There are a number of restaurants situated three and a half miles from the development, offering French cuisine, Italian dishes, and Latin-American meals.

Transport

Heron’s Mead benefits from a range of transport options, with both rail services and major road routes within close proximity. Just over four miles from the development is Newport Railway Station, which offers services to the nearby cities of Cardiff, around a 15-minute journey, and Bristol, about a 40-minute trip.

For road travel, the development is situated just under four miles from junction 24 of the M4, assisting commuters in travelling to Cardiff in roughly 30 minutes and Bristol in approximately 40 minutes.  

Education

For families, Heron’s Mead is within easy reach of a number of highly regarded schools. Just a seven-minute drive from the development leads to Ysgol Gymraeg Casnewydd, which teaches Welsh as a first language. In addition, Lliswerry Primary School and High School are a five- and six-minute drive, respectively. There will also be a primary school built as part of the development.

The University of South Wales has a campus in Newport, which is only a 16-minute drive from the development.
