The attractive village of Alderley Edge, around five minutes’ drive from the development, is known for its café culture and presents a variety of upmarket eateries, bars and boutiques, particularly along the lively London Road.

Unusual, floral-inspired cocktails can be enjoyed at The Botanist, alongside an extensive food menu, and the bar also hosts live music several nights a week; Alderley Bar and Grill offers fine charcoal-grilled steaks sourced from local butchers, in addition to fresh oysters, lobster and fish. The Bubble Room, a popular bar with an impressive Champagne selection, also serves a classic choice of dishes which change with the seasons.

Alderley Edge provides an assortment of stores specialising in designer clothing, footwear and accessories, in addition to homewares and gifts. For everyday shopping, the village also has several small supermarkets and independent local food outlets on its high street.

Wilmslow, about 10 minutes by car from Heatherley Wood, offers further choice of upscale and high street shopping and dining in its town centre; Altrincham is around 12 miles away, while the major commercial hub of Manchester lies approximately 45 minutes’ drive away.

Along the way, look out for the carving which indicates the ‘Wizard’s Well’ – the wizard of Alderley Edge is a well-known local legend, and in some versions of the tale, the wizard is said to be none other than Merlin.

Less than 15 minutes’ drive away, Wilmslow town centre boasts an art deco cinema, The Rex, while a large multiplex and a boutique Everyman cinema can both be found in Altrincham.
