The nearest train station is Chappel & Wakes Colne (10 minutes’ drive away) with services operating between Sudbury and Marks Tey. Direct services to London Liverpool Street run from Marks Tey and Kelvedon stations, both around eight miles from the development.

There are several well-regarded schools in the local area. For younger children these include Earls Colne Primary School and Nursery, five minutes away by car, and Colne Engaine Church of England Primary School, around 10 minutes' walk away. The Ramsey Academy, five minutes' drive away and Hedingham School and Sixth Form, around 15 minutes' drive away, are among those that cater for older pupils. Post-16 education providers include Colchester Institute, which offers a range of apprenticeships, further and higher education courses. It has a campus in Braintree, nine miles away as well as its main campus in Colchester 12 miles away.

Local shops on the village high street are within walking distance and include a small supermarket. The nearest town is Halstead, around 10 minutes’ drive away and it offers a good selection of specialist retailers, as well as a weekly market.

Braintree and Colchester are both home to a wide variety of shops – chain and department stores, boutiques and independents. They can both be reached in around 25 minutes by car.

Harvard Place is surrounded by open countryside and so is ideal for outdoor activities, such as running, cycling, horse riding, or simply walking in the open air. Colne Valley Golf Club is around a mile from the development, while The Essex – which has two golf courses, tennis courts, fitness studios, a gym and spa – is three miles away. Earls Colne Recreation Club, a short walk away, has cricket and football pitches, tennis courts, a multi use games area, a sports hall and squash courts.

Halstead Leisure Centre, just over two miles away, offers a range of facilities including swimming pools, a gym, fitness and cycling studios, and a sports hall. A  pretty market town, Halstead is also home to a variety of popular restaurants, traditional pubs and the Empire Theatre that holds regular film screenings as well as hosting live drama, music and comedy shows. Traditional pubs, such as the Five Bells, in Colne Engaine, and The Lion in Earls Colne, serve a good selection of meals and snacks.

Braintree Village outlet shopping mall, its neighbouring restaurants and multi-screen cinema can be reached within 20 minutes by car, while Colchester, with its Norman castle and surrounding park, world-class zoo, popular shopping areas, cinema, arts centre and the Mercury Theatre, is 25 minutes’ drive away.

The nearest train station is Chappel & Wakes Colne for services between Sudbury and Marks Tey. Mainline services for Chelmsford, Stratford and London Liverpool Street stop at Marks Tey and Kelvedon, which are both around 20 minutes’ drive from the development.

Local buses connect the area with nearby towns and villages. Services include the 82, which stops a few minutes' walk from Harvard Place and runs from Colne Engaine to Colchester, via Earls Colne, Wakes Colne and Marks Tey. The 88, which links Earls Colne with Colchester, Fordham, Aldham and Halstead, stops around 15 minutes' walk away.

Major roads easily accessible from the development include the A120 and the A12. Stansted Airport is 35 minutes away by car via the A120.
