Forest View is located two miles from Colchester North Railway Station, three miles from the town centre and less than two miles from the A12 Great Yarmouth to London road. Chelmsford is around 30 minutes’ away by train, while rail journeys to London Liverpool Street take an hour approximately.

Forest View lies within the administrative boundaries of Colchester Town Council and Essex County Council.

Residents will find a selection of small shops within half a mile, the larger stores of Turner Rise Retail Park less than five minutes’ drive away and Colchester town centre, with its many high-street and independent retailers 10 minutes away by car.

Surrounded by parkland, the development includes open spaces for the enjoyment of residents, echoing the verdant Essex countryside and farmland that lie virtually on the doorstep. The villages of Great Horkesley and Langham are just a few minutes’ drive away, while the picturesque village of Dedham, celebrated in the paintings of the artist John Constable, is just seven miles away.

Leisure opportunities in and around the town are plentiful. Colchester Community Stadium, which is just half a mile from Forest View, is home to Colchester United FC, as well as regular live music and comedy events. Colchester Rugby Club is based on Mill Road, around a mile away and the town’s cricket club plays at Castle Park Cricket Ground, less than three miles away.

Castle Park also has a boating lake, children’s play area and gardens, so is particularly popular with families. Two swimming pools and a host of sports and fitness classes can be found at Leisure World, around 10 minutes’ drive from the development and Colchester Zoo, celebrated for its conservation work, is less than 15 minutes’ drive away.

For families, there are a number of well-regarded schools in the area, including Bishop William Ward CE Primary in Great Horkesley and The Gilberd School. A new primary school will also be built as part of the development. Colchester Royal Grammar School and Colchester County High School for Girls are located just outside the town centre.

Commuting to London via the A12 takes around 45 minutes to the M25 and around an hour to Bow in east London. Stansted Airport is 40 minutes away by car via the A120. By train, journey times are approximately 30 minutes to Chelmsford, 50 minutes to Stratford (for London Docklands) and an hour to London Liverpool Street. Heading east from Colchester, train journey times are 20 minutes to Ipswich and an hour to Norwich.
