Abingworth Fields is located off Storrington Road, in Thakeham, just a short walk from the village centre, less than two miles from Storrington, around 10 miles from Worthing, 12 miles from Horsham, and 52 miles from central London.

The nearest railway station is Pulborough, around five miles away. From there trains run to Bognor Regis, Crawley, Gatwick Airport and London Victoria, among other destinations. Major roads easily accessible from the development include the A24, the A27 and the A272.

The development lies within the administrative boundaries of Thakeham Parish Council, Horsham District Council and West Sussex County Council.

There are a number of well-regarded schools in the local area. For younger children these include Thakeham Primary, which is within walking distance, as well as Storrington Primary, West Chiltington Community Primary, Ashington CE Primary and St Mary’s CE Primary, which can all be reached in less than 10 minutes by car.

The Weald School, Steyning Grammar, Tanbridge House School,  Durrington High School and Millais School are among those catering to secondary-age students.

There is a small shop on the development itself, but for a selection of independent stores, high-street names, cafés and takeaways head to Storrington High Street and West Street. The nearest supermarket is off School Hill – all less than two miles from Abingworth Fields. Further supermarkets are located around five miles away in Pulborough.

Horsham, around 20 minutes by car to the north, boasts an array of department and chain stores, specialist retailers, cafés, restaurants and wine bars at its heart. Principal commercial areas include Swan Walk shopping centre, Carfax and West Street.

Central Worthing is home to the Montague Quarter, The Royal Arcade and Montague Street, all of which are popular with shoppers and can be reached in 30 minutes by car. Brighton, which is 18 miles away, is famous for its boutique shopping with popular destinations including The Lanes, Brighton Marina, North Laine and Churchill Square.

Thakeham has a popular village hall, which serves as a community hub for residents and hosts a wide selection of clubs and activities, such as exercise classes for adults and football for youngsters. Thakeham Village FC is based at the adjacent football ground and the local cricket club – West Chiltington & Thakeham – can be found a short walk away at Abingworth Meadows Cricket Ground.

The semi-rural location of the development lends itself to outdoor pursuits such as rambling, cycling running and horse riding, and the South Downs National Park, which covers more than 1,600 sq km, is also just a short distance away. The coast can be reached in under 25 minutes by car, with popular destinations including Worthing, Bognor Regis and Brighton, all offering myriad opportunities for family days out, watersports, shopping and sightseeing.

Chanctonbury Leisure Centre is around two miles from Abingworth Fields. It boasts a gym, dance studio, sports hall, badminton courts and outdoor sports pitches. Steyning and Billingshurst leisure centres both have swimming pools and both are less than 15 minutes’ drive away.

Abingworth Fields is located in Thakeham, a short walk from the centre of the village. The nearest train station is Pulborough, around 10 minutes’ drive away, for services to Crawley, Gatwick Airport and London Victoria, with journey times from 26 minutes, 37 minutes and 1 hour 17 minutes respectively.

Several other railway stations, including Worthing and Durrington-on-Sea, are around 20 minutes away by car (for Gatwick Express and Thameslink services).

The A24 (for Worthing, Horsham, Dorking, Leatherhead, Epsom and London) is five minutes’ drive from the development, the A27 (for Fareham, Portsmouth, Chichester, Worthing, Brighton and Eastbourne) is 15 minutes’ drive away and the A272 (for Haywards Heath, Billingshurst, Petersfield and Winchester) is seven minutes’ drive away. The M25  can be reached in 45 minutes via the A24.

Gatwick Airport is around 35 minutes’ drive from Abingworth Fields via the A272 and the M23.
