When it comes to shopping Airdrie town centre boasts a wide range of high street names and there are even more choices at Faraday Retail Park in Coatbridge about 3 miles away.Cumbernauld’s theatre, just six miles away, offers drama and dance, poetry and music and performances from The Nutcracker to top-name Scottish artistes. Or, if you prefer to watch your performances on the pitch, you can see the Diamonds at Airdrie United’s Excelsior/New Broomfield grounds.

When it comes to the outdoors, golf fans will find Airdrie Golf Club – a wooded parkland course – as well as several others including Easter Moffat Golf Club at Plains in easy reach. For even more green open spaces Drumpellier Country Park offers some 500 acres of heath, woodlands rich in bird life, and even loch shores, as well as abundant wildflowers and wild life, the perfect place to explore on its network of paths.

Palacerigg Country Park’s animal collection is home to rare breeds and friendly farm animals from Eriskay ponies to Boreray sheep and Shetland ponies – with a road-train and ranger walks, play areas and picnic sites, as well as nature trails.

At Crystal Park you are close to excellent road links – the A8 and M8 are easily accessed, and Glasgow is just 14 miles away – making it an ideal commuter location. Drumgelloch railway station is within walking distance, with a 29 minute rail journey into Glasgow’s Queen Street, and Glasgow International Airport is just 22 miles away and more recently the Airdrie to Bathgate & Edinburgh Rail Link opened from Airdrie train station too.
