At Hedworths Green, outdoor leisure is found in an abundance of countryside, nature, and heritage. This, as well as the folklore of the Lambton Worm, can be explored through the area’s new infrastructure of footpaths. Lambton Park has many sites to explore – culminating in Lambton Castle just 35 minutes’ walk away – including the Lamb Bridge, the castle stables, and adjoining byre, which are all being restored to new uses.

The development is also two miles from Riverside Park, which offers well-maintained gardens, scenic walks, a play area, and access to Chester-le-Street Golf Club, as well as being adjacent to Seat Unique Riverside – home to Durham County Cricket Club.

Chester-le-Street town centre is a 12-minute cycle away, offering a quaint market town with a range of leisure, including several fitness and community centres. Beamish is five miles west of Chester-le-Street; a world-famous living museum which brings North East history to life.

For those with younger families Bournmoor Primary School and Woodlea Primary School are both just over a mile away from the development for an easy commute. There are further junior school options further afield within the Chester-le-Street, Penshaw, and Houghton le Spring communities.

Secondary School options include Kepier Academy, three miles away, plus Oxclose Community Academy and Hetton School – both a 10-minute drive from the development. All of these options are well served by public transport.

For those interested in pursuing higher education, some of the country’s finest universities are within a commutable distance, including Durham, Newcastle, and Northumbria universities.

Road End – The Meadows bus stop is a 10-minute walk away running a service through to Chester-le-Street. Church bus stop is a 14-minute walk, and offers routes to Consett and Houghton-le-Spring.

Both Durham, a six-minute train journey, and Newcastle, a nine-minute train journey, offer national rail connections to destinations including Edinburgh and London.

Newcastle International Airport is a 27-minute drive away.

Residents will be pleased with the upcoming Bowes Gate high street, planned to give residents a number of shopping, hospitality, and leisure destinations, with further plans for an adjacent park and café. Anticipated to serve as the heart of the development, the upcoming Bowes Gate shopping centre will bring local business into the Estate, providing a traditional selection of shops for residents, with the area expected to house a grocer, baker, florist, butcher, and more. Space in the upper floors is planned to be utilised for conventional purposes such as offices and fitness spaces. This on-the-doorstep destination will provide residents easy access to a wide breadth of everyday needs.

Hedworths Green is spoiled for shopping and dining options, with excellent local independent choice, as well as easy access to Chester-le-Street’s vibrant market scene, Durham’s historic shopping streets, Newcastle’s unique variety of eateries, plus Gateshead’s Metrocentre – one of the country’s premier shopping destinations.

The development has a choice of popular supermarkets within a 10-minute drive for everyday essentials, while restaurants and pubs can be found even closer to home. The Dun Cow is an 11-minute walk away, offering a friendly atmosphere and a varied selection of food. Floaters Mill pub is six minutes further on, presenting a delicious Sunday carvery.

Your monthly repayments

Repayment mortgage
What's this?
If you opt for a repayment mortgage, you will need to make monthly payments to your mortgage lender, which consist of a portion of the amount you originally borrowed (sometimes called the ‘capital balance’), as well as any interested that has been incurred on your loan.
Interest only mortgage
What's this?
Choosing an interest-only mortgage means that you will only need to make monthly payments towards the interest on the amount you originally borrowed. With this type of loan, you don’t need to repay any of the capital balance (the amount you borrowed to buy your home), for the duration of the interest only period.
