History
The very best of town and country living - that was the vision that founder Ebenezer Howard had for Letchworth Garden City at the end of the 19th Century. The world’s first garden city would offer all the benefits of town living in a pleasant, green country setting. His vision for the town was that it would be self-sustaining and environmentally friendly - long before those ideals were fashionable. The idea of the Green Belt was born in Letchworth and it’s said only one tree was felled during the entire construction of the town.

Today Letchworth, with its broad, tree-lined avenues, welcoming parks and commons, thoughtful landscaping and sensitive planning, remains true to its founder’s vision. Shopping
Local shops and amenities are all close to hand with Letchworth town centre rich in high street stores, speciality shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Beyond The Greenway, Letchworth is surrounded by beautiful open countryside, with many traditional English villages to explore, and Cambridge, one of Britain’s most beautiful cities, is situated only 24 miles away.

There is also an Art Deco multi-screen independent cinema - The Broadway - a theatre with live music, a museum and an art gallery.

Letchworth Garden City railway station with its fast services to London King’s Cross and Cambridge is located within a 15 minute walk and Junction 9 of the A1 is just over a mile away, providing excellent links to London and the M25; Luton Airport is just over ten miles away.
