Welcome to Burton upon Trent

Burton upon Trent is the largest town within the National Forest area, situated within the valley of the River Trent, it boasts picturesque views of the surrounding Derbyshire and Staffordshire countryside.

This popular market town offers excellent local amenities, retail and leisure opportunities. For commuters, there are good transport links into nearby cities such as Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham and Leicester.

 

Education

For families, there are a number of well-regarded schools near the development. For younger children, Shobnall Primary School is within walking distance, while Mosley Academy, Grange Infant School, Christ Church Primary School and St. Modwen’s Catholic Primary School are all readily accessible. For older students, the notable John Taylor High School is around 10 minutes drive from Henhurst Feilds, while De Ferrers Academy is also close-by.

Burton and South Derbyshire College offers a range of further and higher education courses and is eight minutes’ drive from the development. There are also many higher education options - the Universities of Nottingham, Derby and Leicester and Loughborough University are all within commutable distance.

 

Transport

Burton-on-Trent rail station is a 7-minute drive from Henhurst Fields, offering regular services to destinations across the UK, including Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Derby, Edinburgh, Leeds, Leicester, Newcastle upon Tyne, Nottingham, Sheffield and York.

Commuters benefit from close proximity to major roads including the A38 for travel to Derby (29mins) and Birmingham (49mins). The A50 provides travel to Nottingham (50mins) and Leicester can be accessed within approximately one hour via the A50 and M1. The M6 offers easy access to Birmingham, Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent, Liverpool, Manchester, Preston, Lancaster and Carlisle.

For international travel, East Midlands airport is around 30 minutes’ drive away from the development.

 

Shopping

Shopping opportunities are plentiful with Burton town centre offering a range of high-street and independent stores selling a wealth of goods and services. The town also has several supermarkets. The Octagon, Burton Place and Coopers Square shopping malls are all within a 10-minute drive of Henhurst Fields, as is Middleway Retail and Leisure Park, which offers a gym and multiplex cinema in addition to several brand-name outlets.

Barton Marina is a 15-minute drive from home and offers waterside views of the woodlands and lakes, as well as a range of family-friendly eateries and an independent cinema. The National Forest Adventure Farm is a 20-minute walk from home, boasting a variety of activities including go-karts, crazy golf, a 10-acre maze, a large indoor play area for all ages and a petting zoo.

Film fans will find no less than three cinemas within Burton upon Trent, with two independents and a multiplex cinema. The Brewhouse Arts Centre, just a six-minute drive away, provides access to theatre, film, dance and art exhibitions. Shobnall Leisure Complex is less than a mile and a half away from Henhurst Fields, boasting a sports hall, athletics facilities, astroturf, pitches, skate park, paddling pool, play area, tennis and golf. The area also has two local, 18-hole golf courses, Branston Golf and Country Club and Burton-on-Trent Golf Club.

Burton upon Trent has a rich brewing history and strong industrial roots, as well as associations with Mary Queen of Scots. For history enthusiasts there are a range of local attractions nearby including Sinai Park House, a four-minute drive from Henhurst Fields and Clay Mills Victoria pumping station, 10-minutes away by car.

Ashby De La Zouch castle (a 40-minute drive), this 12th century manor house has landscaped grounds and traditional features to explore. There is also the National Brewery Centre and Museum, which is around a 10-minute drive from the development.

For access to further leisure, eating, shopping and cultural destinations, Burton upon Trent is conveniently located within commutable distance of several metropolitan hubs, including Derby and Nottingham to the north east, Leicester in the south east and Birmingham to the south west.

Slightly further afield is Drayton Manor Theme park, including a variety of rides and attractions, a 15-acre zoo, two bars and three restaurants.
