Westburn is located off Stamfordham Road, around one mile from the centre of Westerhope and its many amenities, four miles from Ponteland Village, and five miles from both The Metrocentre and Newcastle city centre. Major roads easily accessible from the development include the A1 and the A69. Newcastle Airport is less than 10 minutes away by car.

Westburn lies within the administrative boundaries of Newcastle upon Tyne City Council.

There are a number of well-regarded schools locally that cater for children of all ages. For younger pupils, Westerhope Primary School is a short walk from the development, while Simonside Primary School is a few minutes’ drive away. Ponteland Primary School and Richard Coates CE School can both be reached in around 10 minutes by car. Secondary schools catering for older students include Studio West, five minutes’ drive away.    Ponteland High School, around 10 minutes’ drive away.

The centre of Newcastle upon Tyne is home to both Newcastle University and Northumbria University.

For day-to-day essentials there are several supermarkets in and around Westerhope, all within five minutes’ drive. Ponteland village is home to a number of independent retailers, cafés and restaurants, while at Kingston Park you’ll find a selection of high-street names and a large supermarket.

Central Newcastle is well-known for the quality of its retail offering, boasting world-class department stores, designer boutiques and popular chains along Northumberland Street, in Eldon Square shopping mall and throughout Grainger Town.

Across the River Tyne in Gateshead, the Metrocentre is one of the largest indoor malls in the country, with around 250 shops, restaurants and a multi-screen cinema.

Westburn lies on the edge of Westerhope and benefits from open countryside on its doorstep, which is ideal for exploring on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. Westerhope Golf Club is situated next door to the development, while Newcastle Falcons rugby union club is based at Kingston Park, less than 10 minutes’ drive away.

For youngsters, there’s a children’s play area, football pitches and a multi-use games area next to Westerhope Institute, five minutes’ walk away, off Stamfordham Road. Ponteland Park, 10 minutes away by car, is also popular with families, with attractions such as a wildlife reserve, wildflower meadow, dipping platform and oxbow lake.

West Denton Leisure Centre offers a range of facilities, including a gym, exercise studios, sports courts and pitches. Ponteland also has a leisure centre with swimming pool, fitness studios and sports courts.

Newcastle city centre boasts a plethora of fine and casual restaurants, cafés, wine bars and traditional pubs, as well as several cinemas – including the independent Tyneside Cinema – and several theatres, such as the stunning Grade 1 listed Theatre Royal on Grey Street.

The Metrocentre in Gateshead also has a multi-screen cinema and a good selection of restaurants.

The nearest Metro stations to the development are Callerton Parkway and Bank Foot, both around five minutes’ drive away. Mainline train services can be accessed in Newcastle at Central Station for journeys to Edinburgh, Glasgow, York, Doncaster and London Kings Cross, among other destinations.

Major roads conveniently accessible from Westburn include the A1 (for Morpeth, Berwick and Edinburgh to the north, and Durham, Leeds, Doncaster, Peterborough and London to the south), the A69 (for Hexham and Carlisle), and the A19 (for Middlesbrough, Thirsk, York and Doncaster).

Local buses connect the development with surrounding areas, towns and villages. Newcastle Airport is three miles away via Callerton Lane.
