House to Home

An exclusive tour of how we craft your beautiful new home, one brick at a time

The House to Home experience

The House to Home experience

House to Home is a unique opportunity to discover exactly what goes into building your new home, with site managers on hand to give their expert advice as you tour the property.

Take a look behind the scenes and find out more about the craftsmanship Bellway puts into each and every home, from the materials used and placement of fixtures, to our contemporary construction methods and sustainable practices.

Exclusive to Bellway, our House to Home plots are designed to give you a glimpse into our entire build process, from the pre-plaster stage right through to the beautiful end result.

Over 75 years of quality. Since 1946 Home Builders Federation 2023 - 5-star home builder

What is a House to Home plot?

Each House to Home plot is designed to demonstrate the various stages of our build process, with the house split into sections to represent the ‘first fix’, ‘second fix’ and final completion phases.

Not only will this give you a better understanding of your new home, and the expertise that went into building it, but you’ll gain valuable insight into how to best care for your home after moving in. Your site manager will talk you through the exposed walls and ceilings, with visible electrical wiring and plumbing, highlighting the care needed when putting up shelves, hanging pictures, or installing wall-mounted TVs.

As you walk through the home, look out for signs dotted around the property, identifying different build stages, the materials used, our sustainable construction practices, and a few interesting facts.

House to home - first fix phase

What will I see during the tour?

Depending on the house type and location, your House to Home experience may vary, but there are three main construction phases to look out for: the first fix (pre-plaster), the second fix (post-plaster), and the final stages – which really transform a house into your home.

To help you understand what goes into each build stage, here’s a summary of what you can expect to see during your visit:

House to home - first fix phase

First fix

This phase takes place once the foundations, walls, and roof have been built, and before finishing your plastering. It will showcase things like wall construction, ceilings and floors, pipework for heating and plumbing, and cabling for electricity and broadband.

At this stage of the tour, you’ll gain a better understanding of where the services are placed within your new home, and the sustainable approach we take to housebuilding. The use of sustainably-sourced timber, cavity wall insulation, and thermally-efficient block work all help to keep your energy costs down.

House to home - second fix phase

Second fix

This happens after your plastering has been completed. It may include tasks such as adding in sinks, baths and other fixtures, as well as connecting up electrical fixtures. This phase marks the point at which your new home really takes shape, with the installation of floors, internal doors, joinery mouldings, sockets and switches.

Your site manager will also demonstrate the ‘no drill zones’ at this stage, which are the areas we advise that you avoid drilling in order to protect the services installed behind the walls of your home.

House to home - final fix phase

Final stages

This is the final stage that turns your house into a home. It includes the installation of the kitchen, wall and floor tiling, decorating, and carpeting (if included). At the end of the tour, you will see how this beautiful blank canvas has been expertly built using state-of-the-art materials and meticulous craftmanship, meaning your brand new home will be ready to move into the moment you get your keys.
