Bury Council Affordable Housing Scheme

Those eligible to purchase an affordable home through the Bury Council Affordable Housing scheme, will benefit from a 25% discount off the market price of selected Bellway homes (please ask for information about selected plots). Unlike Help to Buy, the discount under this scheme does not have to be repaid.

Prospective purchasers who have lived in the metropolitan borough of Bury (comprising Tottington, Prestwich, Whitefield, Radcliffe, Bury and Ramsbottom) for at least six months and who meet the eligibility criteria are invited to apply.

To be considered for this scheme, applicants should have:

Paid council tax to Bury Council
No history of rent arrears with Bury Council
No history of anti-social behaviour with Bury Council
Completed the application form to register for the affordable housing waiting list

Applicants should not already own a residential property and should not be able to buy the prospective property at full market value. If successful under the affordable housing scheme, the purchaser must not rent out the property, but should live in it as a main home. Any resale of the property will have to adhere to the same process with a continuation of the 25% discount.
