Footways and cycle links connect these new homes in Shrewsbury to the beautiful local area, and the Rea Brook Valley Local Nature Reserve, a short walk away, is a popular destination with runners and cyclists.

Less than a mile from the development, sports fans will find Montgomery Waters Meadow, the Shrewsbury Town Football Club stadium which is also a regular venue for touring international artists. Also within easy reach are Shrewsbury Cricket Club, and the well-equipped Shrewsbury Sports Village.

Shrewsbury’s medieval heritage and unspoilt Tudor architecture is a draw for visitors from across the country and beyond. Fascinating attractions include the Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery, The Dana Prison and the 11th century Shrewsbury Abbey; the town is also famous for being the birthplace of Charles Darwin, and regular organised walking tours offer the opportunity to learn more about his life and to see the many tributes to him around the area.

A rich arts culture thrives in Shrewsbury, and live music can often be heard in its pubs, bars and venues. The Shrewsbury Folk Festival is a highlight of the town’s annual events calendar, as are the Shrewsbury International Comedy Festival and the Darwin Shrewsbury Festival.

Shopping in Shrewsbury is varied and appealing, as independent retailers, many of which have been established for decades, greatly outnumber the chain stores in the town centre.

The partially pedestrianised Pride Hill is home to most of the national stores in Shrewsbury, however a plethora of antique dealers, vintage clothing boutiques and intriguing specialist shops can be found down the many medieval streets and alleyways, such as the famous Wyle Cop. The Parade Shopping Centre is a hub of 25 independent shops, encompassing fashion, food and collectables.

Shrewsbury’s independent businesses include a diverse host of restaurants, pavement cafés and bars. Rural Shropshire is known for its fruitful farmland, and so many restaurants in Shrewsbury take advantage of the fresh local produce with seasonal menus that showcase the region’s flavours.

Restaurants in Shrewsbury are focused around the heart of the town centre, and establishments such as Csons, which serves globally-inspired dishes; gourmet burger restaurant Brooklyn Craft; and Mediterranean-British fusion eatery Riverbank Bar & Kitchen all incorporate locally-sourced ingredients into their menus. However, historic pubs are a signature of Shrewsbury. The Three Fishes Inn and The Loggerheads both serve an array of local real ales in buildings that date back centuries.

Families will find a number of well-regarded state, private and independent schools within easy reach of these new homes in Shrewsbury.

Primary and junior schools include Mereside CE Primary School, Meole Brace CE Primary and Nursery, and the independent St Winefride’s School. Secondary age students are catered for by Meole Brace School, The Priory School and Shrewsbury School. Shrewsbury High School, a private school for girls aged 3-19 is located just outside the town centre.

Further education, including apprenticeships, academic and vocational courses is offered by Shrewsbury College, which is a five-minute drive from The Spinney. University Centre Shrewsbury is just over three miles away; further afield are the University of Wolverhampton, 31 miles away, and the University of Birmingham and the Birmingham City University, both of which can be reached by car in around an hour.

While the semi-rural location of The Spinney offers seclusion and relaxation, it is within easy reach of major roads for access to several large cities, which will be of particular benefit to commuters.

The A5 for Birmingham and London, and the A49 for Hereford and Wigan can be reached by car in just a few minutes. Shrewsbury railway station has direct services to Manchester, Birmingham, London and Cardiff, and is around a 15-minute drive from the development. Bus stops for routes into and around Shrewsbury are a short walk away.

The nearest airport to Shrewsbury is Birmingham, around an hour away by car via the M6 and M54.

Your monthly repayments

Repayment mortgage
What's this?
If you opt for a repayment mortgage, you will need to make monthly payments to your mortgage lender, which consist of a portion of the amount you originally borrowed (sometimes called the ‘capital balance’), as well as any interested that has been incurred on your loan.
Interest only mortgage
What's this?
Choosing an interest-only mortgage means that you will only need to make monthly payments towards the interest on the amount you originally borrowed. With this type of loan, you don’t need to repay any of the capital balance (the amount you borrowed to buy your home), for the duration of the interest only period.
