Less than five miles away, The Fort Shopping Park incorporates well-known retailers and food outlets; over 50 outlet stores, in addition to a variety of restaurants and bars can be found at Resorts World, fewer than 15 minutes from the development.

The city centre of Birmingham, around 20 minutes away by car, is renowned for its wealth of restaurants and shopping opportunities for all tastes. The Bullring and Grand Central malls each boast an array of high-street and independent brands, alongside casual eateries; The Mailbox specialises in an upmarket experience, with a choice of designer boutiques and stylish restaurants and bars, many of which overlook the canal. Birmingham Hippodrome is home to Birmingham Royal Ballet, and also boasts a varied schedule of theatre, dance, opera and comedy performances; Ikon, the city’s foremost contemporary art gallery, is renowned for its ‘singing lift’. Child-friendly destinations such as National Sea Life Centre, Thinktank science museum and the Birmingham Back to Backs, a restored 19th century courtyard offering a unique glimpse into the city’s working history, provide plenty to see and do for families.


Alderbrook benefits from its close proximity to several well-regarded schools. Families with younger children will find St John the Baptist RC Primary about a minutes’ walk from the development; Forest Oak School can be reached in just a few minutes on foot. Smith’s Wood Primary Academy lies less than half a mile away.

For older students, Park Hall Academy, and The Shirestone Academy provide secondary-level education, and are both located around two miles from Alderbrook.

Further and higher education is provided at the Woodlands Campus of Solihull College and University Centre, situated approximately 10 minutes’ walk away. Smith’s Wood offers ease of access to key regional transport links for Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Solihull and Coventry.

The A452 for Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield is less than a mile from the development; this road also connects to the M6, and provides access to the M42 for Solihull, and the A45 for Coventry. The car journey to Birmingham takes approximately 20 minutes.

Water Orton railway station, three miles from Alderbrook, provides direct services to destinations including Birmingham New Street, with a journey time of as little as 10 minutes, and Burton-on-Trent, Derby and Leicester.
