Lydney is situated to the south of the Forest of Dean. Archer’s Walk can be found just off the A48, and is around 20 minutes from junction 2 of the M48.

Sports and leisure

Near to Archer’s Walk, Lydney offers many sports and recreation facilities, including a 15-hole mini-golf course, cricket grounds and a leisure centre. Freedom Leisure Centre boasts a swimming pool, a gym, a sports hall and two squash courts. Outdoors, the leisure centre also has an artificial football pitch, tennis and netball courts.

Further outdoor activities can be explored within the Lydney Park Estate. These historic gardens house attractive horticultural displays all year round and include picnic areas, a woodland garden and a Deer Park to explore. For culture lovers, the estate also presents Roman ruins, including a temple, and two museums.

Countryside pursuits are in vast abundance within the nearby Forest of Dean, which boasts over 110 square kilometres of woodland. Here visitors can enjoy activities such as hiking, cycling, kayaking, mountain climbing, archery and even a zip-wire experience, plus a sculpture trail, and a steam train around the forest.

Shopping and dining

Everyday essentials can be purchased at the nearest large supermarket, which is situated around five minutes’ drive from Archers’ Walk. The historic market town of Lydney offers a wide variety of high-street shops and independent boutiques, with the main shopping area centred around Newerne Street.

Further afield, Gloucester presents an array of shopping and leisure opportunities. This cosmopolitan city is home to many high-street retailers, which can be found within its centre, as well as at King’s Walk and Eastgate shopping malls. Alternatively, a variety of independent boutiques are situated in the Cathedral Quarter.

For discount shopping, shoppers can enjoy the outlet centre at Gloucester Quays, located at the city’s historic docks. This area also boasts a selection of bars, cafés and restaurants, as well as a multiplex cinema. For culture, Gloucester houses a number of popular museums and galleries, as well as the King’s Theatre.

Education

For families, there are several well-regarded primary schools within Lydney; these include Severnbanks County Primary School and Primrose Hill C of E Primary School, both of which are only a short journey from the development. A secondary school can be found within two miles of Archer’s Walk.

Transport

Lydney train station is less than five minutes’ drive away from Archer’s Walk and serves several destinations, including Cheltenham, Cardiff and Gloucester.

The development is also close to key transport routes, with the A48 less than half a mile away. This major road provides access to Chepstow within approximately 15 minutes, and Gloucester, around half an hours’ drive.
