Shopping

There are two supermarkets within half a mile of the development, as well as a number of independent and specialist shops, bars and restaurants, off Daiglen Drive, around 10 minutes’ walk away. Lakeside shopping centre and the neighbouring retail park can be reached within 10 minutes by car and are home to a wealth of department stores, high-street chains and designer boutiques, as well as a multiplex cinema, cafés and restaurants.

Leisure

The area is rich in parks and open space, with Belhus Woods Country Park less than four miles from the development and Rainham Marshes, an RSPB nature reserve five miles away. Sports fans will find a variety of facilities at Belhus Park Leisure Centre, around two miles away, including a swimming pool, gym and exercise studios, as well as an 18-hole golf course and driving range. Mardyke Valley Golf Club to the south and Top Meadow Golf Club to the north can both be reached in around five minutes by car. The town is also home to rugby and football clubs.

Education

For families, several well-regarded primary and secondary schools can be found in the local area, such as Shaw Primary Academy, Holy Cross Catholic Primary School and The Ockendon Academy. Post-16 providers include South Essex College, five miles away, which offers a wide range of apprenticeships, vocational and academic courses.

Transport

These new homes in South Ockendon enjoy excellent transport connections: the nearest railway station is just 15 minutes’ walk from Highland Park and from there regular services run to Southend, Barking and London Fenchurch Street, among other destinations.
