Hengrove is a popular suburb of Bristol that is around 15 minutes’ drive from the city centre. From the A37, Aquarius is less than a five-minute car journey away.
There are a number of sports facilities situated in and around Hengrove, including Bristol Family Cycling Centre, offering training sessions for cyclists of all ages; Hengrove Park, which incorporates a skatepark, indoor leisure centre and an adventure playground, and South Bristol Sports Centre. For keen golfers, there are two courses within a 15-minute drive of Aquarius.
Hengrove Leisure Park, a small family entertainment complex with a cinema, is less than a mile away.
Named ‘The Best Place to Live’ in the UK by The Sunday Times in 2017, Bristol city centre has an even broader choice in entertainment and leisure. Boasting a dynamic arts scene, there are numerous museums, art galleries, and live music and theatre venues to visit. As the home of the graffiti artist Banksy, many examples of his street art can be found around Bristol city centre; an annual festival, Upfest, celebrates Bristol’s renowned urban art scene.
For days out from Bristol, Bath is approximately 30 minutes’ drive away. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the spa city has an abundance of well-preserved Roman remains and Georgian architecture. The coastal resort of Portishead is situated to the west of Bristol, and is also around 30 minutes away by car.
A supermarket is within walking distance of Aquarius, and Imperial Retail Park is a 10-minute car journey away. Situated just a five-minute walk from the development is a traditional pub, which serves a range of food; several family restaurants can be found a short drive away at Hengrove Leisure Park.
Bristol city centre features a broader retail choice, covering well-known shops, department stores and designer names in the Bristol Shopping Quarter, which also includes The Galleries and Cabot Circus shopping centre. There is an impressive variety of independent markets and boutiques in the city, focused around Stokes Croft and Gloucester Road. Clifton Village, a small suburb that lies just outside the city centre, is renowned for its many independent stores.
Bristol also provides an excellent dining experience, being home to two Michelin-starred restaurants, alongside a broad mixture of independent and chain establishments.
Award-winning restaurants include Casamia, which offers a seasonal tasting menu, and Paco Tapas, specialising in authentic Andalusian tapas. Both are located on the harbourside, as is Cargo, a diverse collection of independent restaurants, bars and other local businesses, housed in converted shipping containers.
For families at Aquarius, there are a number of well-regarded schools in the local area. Primary schools include Perry Court E-Act Academy, Wansdyke Primary School, Oasis Academy New Oak, and St Bernadette Catholic Primary School, all of which are around a mile away.
Older students are served by Oasis Academy John Williams, and St Bernadette Catholic Secondary School, also approximately a mile from the development. The Bridge Learning Campus, which provides education for pupils between the ages of 3-16, can be reached by car in less than 10 minutes.
City of Bristol College provides further education courses covering a wide range of vocational and academic subjects, and its South Bristol Skills Academy campus is a 15-minute walk away. Undergraduate to postgraduate degrees are offered at the University of Bristol, which was ranked the ninth best UK university in the QS World University Rankings 2017/18, and is around six miles from Hengrove.
Aquarius is conveniently placed for travel into and around Bristol, or commuting to Bath. The A4174 Avon Ring Road for Bristol Airport and Bath is less than a mile from the development, and the A37 for Bristol and Dorchester is approximately a five-minute drive away.
Bristol Temple Meads railway station, with direct services to destinations including London Paddington, Manchester Piccadilly and Leeds, is around 15 minutes away by car. There are bus stops for local services near to the development.
Bristol Airport is around 20 minutes’ drive from Hengrove, via the A38.
