Northdene is located in North Shields, a few minutes’ drive from the A1058 Coast Road, five minutes’ drive from the A19 for the Tyne Tunnel, Sunderland and Teesside, and around 10 minutes’ drive from both Tynemouth and Whitley Bay.

There are a number of well-regarded schools in the local area, such as New York Primary and Whitehouse Primary – both a short walk from the development – Preston Grange Primary and Collingwood Primary schools. John Spence Community High School, Marden High School and Churchill Community College are among those schools that cater to older students.
The main shopping areas in North Shields are Saville Street, Bedford Street and The Beacon mall – home to a variety of high-street stores, independent retailers and supermarkets. The Fish Quay – less than 10 minutes’ drive from Northdene – is the place to go to purchase fresh fish and seafood, as well as for fine dining and takeaway fish suppers.
Royal Quays Outlet Centre, three miles from the development, is popular with shoppers from both within the town and further afield, as is Silverlink Shopping Park, just five minutes’ drive away. There, fashion and homewares stores stand alongside a multi-screen cinema and several restaurants and takeaways.
Newcastle city centre, with its wide selection of department and chain stores, designer boutiques, specialist retailers and food markets, can be reached in around 15 minutes by car.
North Shields and West Monkseaton Metro stations are each around two miles from the development. Trains run from both to Whitley Bay, Tynemouth, Newcastle Airport and Newcastle city centre, among other places. Mainline rail services can be accessed from Newcastle Central Station, with destinations including Edinburgh to the north, and York, Doncaster and London Kings Cross to the south.
Major roads easily accessible from the development include the A1058 Coast Road, the A19 and the A1.
The Shields Ferry operates crossings every 30 minutes between North Shields and South Shields (journey time of under 10 minutes).
Newcastle International Airport is around 25 minutes away by car via the A19 and the A1.
