Grey Gables Farm benefits from its close proximity to the amenities of Bamber Bridge village, which include a supermarket and a selection of local shops and restaurants; among these are the Withy Arms, an upscale pub that offers an extensive home-cooked food menu and boasts an additional outdoor bar and heated seating area. Also nearby is The Hospital Inn, a contemporary grillhouse and pub, which can be reached in around five minutes’ walk from the development.  

Fewer than 10 minutes away by car, Capitol Centre Retail Park in Walton-le-Dale incorporates a selection of large retailers and casual eateries; a little further afield, a broader choice of shopping and dining can be found just over four miles from the development in Preston city centre.

The adjacent Fishergate and Friargate streets form the heart of Preston’s commercial district, and incorporate a number of malls such as the St George’s shopping centre, which boasts a wide choice of high street retailers alongside independent local stores and several restaurants.

Situated just half a mile from Grey Gables Farm, Withy Grove Park provides extensive green space for walking, running and cycling, and boasts several adventure play areas to serve children of all ages. Located on the edge of the park, Bamber Bridge Leisure Centre has a range of facilities including a swimming pool, sports hall and gym with fitness classes.

The 250-acre Brockholes nature reserve is situated about 10 minutes’ drive from the development. Home to a diversity of wildlife, this attraction also features a floating ‘Visitor Village’, with children’s activities, shops and a waterfront restaurant.

Preston, approximately four miles from Grey Gables Farm, offers a wealth of indoor entertainment options to suit most tastes in and around its city centre. These include the Preston Guild Hall theatre, which hosts touring shows and live bands, and the Harris Museum and Art Gallery, which regularly holds family activity days, plus a multiplex cinema and a bowling alley.

Further afield, the picturesque Ribble Valley provides ample opportunities for day trips and family leisure activities. The area includes attractive market towns such as Clitheroe, in addition to The Forest of Bowland, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that incorporates historic villages, fells and valleys, making it a popular destination for hikers. The forest has also been granted official status as a Dark Sky Discovery Site.

For days out by the coast, the resorts of Blackpool and Morecambe are both accessible in around 35 minutes by car. The Lake District National Park lies to the north, and can be reached directly via the M6.

A number of well-regarded schools can be found in the area surrounding Grey Gables Farm. For younger children, Bamber Bridge St Aidan’s CE Primary School is situated about 15 minutes’ walk away; St Mary’s and St Benedict’s RC Primary School, and Cuerden Church School, for pupils aged 4-11, are both located around a mile from the development.

Older students are served by Brownedge St Mary’s Catholic High School, which can be reached in approximately 20 minutes on foot.

Those wishing to pursue further or higher education will find several colleges in Preston, including Cardinal Newman College and Preston’s College, both of which offer a variety of courses up to a degree level. University of Central Lancashire has a campus located in Preston city centre.

Grey Gables Farm benefits from its close proximity to several key transport routes, which offer ease of travel to major nearby towns and cities including Preston, Blackburn, Blackpool and Manchester.

The Clayton Brook Interchange, which provides access to the M61 for Bolton and Manchester, and the M65 for Blackburn, can be reached in under a five-minute drive. Junction 29 of the M6 for Preston and the Lake District National Park is less than two miles from the development.

Situated just over a mile away, Bamber Bridge railway station offers direct services to Colne and Preston; the latter station, a major rail hub in the North West, operates connecting services to Manchester Piccadilly, Blackpool North and South stations, and London Euston.
