Aspen Walk is located on Fiddlers Hill, close to historic woodland and around 15 minutes’ drive from Colchester town centre, with all of the many amenities and leisure attractions it has to offer. Major roads easily accessible from the development include the A12, which is around five minutes away by car, making this an ideal base for commuting to Chelmsford, Ipswich and London.

Well-regarded schools in the local area include Holy Trinity Primary School – just five minutes’ walk from the development – Fordham All Saints CE Primary, which is also within walking distance, and Stanway Primary School, which is five minutes’ drive away.

For older students, Stanway School and Paxman Academy can both be reached in less than 10 minutes by car, while Colchester Academy and The Thomas Lord Audley School are both less than 20 minutes’ drive away.

The Sixth Form College Colchester on North Hill offers more than 50 A level courses, and Colchester Institute provides vocational courses, apprenticeships, further education and higher education programmes. Both can be reached in around 10 minutes by car.  

There is a large supermarket at Stanway, as well as a selection of high-street stores at Tollgate Centre Shopping Park, both around two miles away. Colchester town centre, 10 minutes’ drive away, is a popular destination for both shopping and  leisure, with boutiques, chain and department stores, specialist and independent retailers, cafés, traditional pubs and restaurants.

Braintree Village designer outlet centre is less than 30 minutes away by car from Aspen Walk and is home to a selection of designer boutiques and well-known brands.

Aspen Walk is surrounded by green fields, in open countryside to the west of Colchester. The area lends itself to walking, cycling and horse riding – there are several riding schools in the area. It is also within convenient travelling distance of Colchester town centre and its many amenities, including The Mercury Theatre, Headgate Theatre, Colchester Arts Centre, Firstsite museum and gallery, a multi-screen cinema and a host of live music venues.

Colchester Zoo, renowned for its conservation programme, is 10 minutes’ drive away; Colchester Castle and Castle Park are around 15 minutes’ drive away and Leisure World, with facilities including three swimming pools, a gym, fitness studios, spa and sports hall, can be reached in around 10 minutes by car.

The nearest train stations to the development are Marks Tey and Colchester North, both around 10 minutes’ drive from Aspen Walk. Regular services run to Chelmsford, London Liverpool Street and Ipswich from both, but non-stop services to London run from Colchester North only. Trains to and from Norwich also stop at Colchester North.

Major roads within convenient distance of the development include the A120 (for Harwich, Braintree, Great Dunmow and Bishop’s Stortford) and the A12 (for Chelmsford, Romford, London, Ipswich and Lowestoft).

Stansted Airport is 30 miles away via the A120.
