Bury Council Affordable Housing Scheme

Summary

Bury Council’s affordable housing scheme is intended to provide families, individuals, and first-time buyers with better access to housing. The scheme enables potential buyers to purchase a home at a reduced market value, with a discount of 20% - 30% off the full price of the property.

Who can apply?

To apply for the scheme you must:

• Have been living within the borough for at least six months
• Have no current or former rent arrears, or any history of anti-social behaviour
• Live in the property; you cannot rent it out
• Not own any other property
• Be able to afford the home at the discounted price, but not at the full market price

Once you have applied for this scheme you may be subject to a financial assessment, which will be carried out by your local authority.
