Welcome to Finningley, Doncaster

Finningley is a picturesque village set in rural Yorkshire, with great connections to the local countryside and the nearby market town of Doncaster. 

 

Education

For families, there are well-regarded schools nearby, including St Oswald’s C of E Academy primary school, which is approximately 10 minutes’ walk away from Frobisher Court. For 11 to 18-year-olds, The Hayfield Secondary School is around a seven-minute drive and The McAuley Catholic High School around a 12-minute drive away.

For older students, both Doncaster College and University can be accessed within less than half an hour by car. 

 

Transport 

Frobisher Court benefits from access to major roads, the m18, M180 and A1 can all be accessed within around 15 minutes by car. Doncaster can be reached in around 20 minutes via the B1396. Here residents will also find Doncaster railway station, which offers frequent services to major cities including York, Newcastle, Manchester and London. Regular local bus services connect this development with surrounding villages and Doncaster. 

For international travel, Frobisher Court benefits from close proximity to Doncaster Sheffield airport.

Eating and Drinking

Frobisher Court is within close proximity of the village pub, The Harvey Arms, around a four-minute walk from the development. There are also several popular cafés and tea rooms to be found in the surrounding Yorkshire countryside and villages. 

Bawtry is a market town, located only a 10-minute drive away from Frobisher Court, that is well-known locally for its selection of quality dining options and drinking establishments, including restaurants, cafés and wine bars. Leisure 

Finningley benefits from green open spaces, including a village green and duck pond to explore. The village is ideally placed for walks through the local countryside. There is a local farm shop, which includes a coffee shop and strawberry picking during the summer months, as well as a nursery and garden centre, with a tea room, deli and show gardens. Both the farm shop and garden centre are around five minutes’ drive from the development. 

Nearby Doncaster boasts a rich history in railways and horse racing. History enthusiasts can view Georgian and Regency architecture along the Great North Road and the remains of the original Roman wall, in addition to Norman castles at Conisbrough and Tickhill. There is also the Mansion House, a Grade I listed building dating back to 1745, one of only three in England. 

Visitors can enjoy a walk, run or cycle around Doncaster Lakeside, where there are three different trails to follow while taking in the picturesque views. For indoor sports, Doncaster Dome is only a 16-minute drive from the development. This leisure centre and sporting arena boasts several swimming pools, a split-level ice rink, children’s soft play, cycling hub, gym, fitness studios, spa and a range of facilities for team sports. The Dome also hosts regular live music, sporting and entertainment events, including concerts, musical theatre and comedy shows. 

Doncaster Racecourse and Keepmoat Stadium are both approximately 20 minutes’ drive from Frobisher Court. Doncaster Racecourse hosts race meetings throughout the year and is famous for the Saint Leger Festival, the world’s oldest classic horse race. Keepmoat Stadium boasts a state-of-the-art fitness suite and presents regular football events. Both of these sporting venues are often home to live music concerts.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park is only a 12-minute drive away from the development and is home to around 300 wild and exotic animals, comprising 60 different species. This tourist attraction offers tours and behind-the-scenes experiences, as well as play areas, cafés and a shop.
