Swanwick is a picturesque village which borders the River Hamble in the vibrant county of Hampshire, benefiting from excellent local shopping facilities and a range of tempting nearby eateries.

 

Leisure

Swanwick is the perfect setting for riverside walks along the beautiful River Hamble, close to both rolling countryside and the popular leisure attractions of Portsmouth and Southampton.

Swanwick Lakes Nature Reserve is less than a 15 minute walk or two minute drive from Reflections and makes a perfect site for walking, cycling and horse riding. The Navigator is a stylish pub and restaurant under a five minute walk from home and specialises in transforming locally-reared and grown ingredients into a varied and impressive a lá carte cuisine. Featuring freshly-caught fish, Hampshire venison and Gressington duck breast, this superb menu is complimented by a quality range of wines and beers including fine, locally-brewed Upham Ales.

The Jolly Sailor is a traditional public house just 15 minutes walk or a six minute drive from home, and is well-known for its feature in the BBC TV series, ‘Howards Way’. With a terrace overlooking the Marina and a decked pontoon on the waterfront, this charming venue boasts a beer-garden with a difference, complete with an excellent selection of real ales and a hearty home-cooked menu.

For more formal meal times, there are plentiful well-regarded restaurants in the area. The Ferry Restaurant is a former chain link ferry which is now converted into a romantic dining venue, permanently anchored in the historic Elephant Boathouse. The Boathouse Café is under a five minute walk from Reflections and enjoys fantastic views of Swanwick Marina from the bistro or outdoor terrace, while specialising in afternoon tea and seasonal blackboard specials.

 

Transport

Commuters will benefit from excellent transport links in the area, with the nearby M27 providing connections to Southampton, Chichester and Portsmouth. The A27 is under a mile away and parallels Hampshire’s south coast, beginning at Whiteparish and travelling as far as East Sussex.

Bursledon Train Station is conveniently located half a mile away and connects with Southampton, Fareham and Portsmouth, while Swanwick Train Station is just five minutes drive away and offers services to London, Southampton, Brighton and Portsmouth.

For international travel, Southampton Airport can be reached in under 15 minutes by car via the M27.

 

Education

Families are well-catered for the in the area with a number of highly-regarded school nearby covering nursery through to higher education.

Primary school children will benefit from close proximity to a number of popular schools, with Sarisbury Infant School and Sarisbury Church of England Junior School both under a five minute drive from home. Older students are served by Fairways School, just over a 15 minute walk from the development (0.8 miles), and Brookfield Community School at around five minutes away by car.

Those pursuing further study may consider The University of Southampton which is ranked amongst the top 1% of UK Universities and located just 17 minutes from Reflections by car, while the well-regarded university of Portsmouth is under a 30 minute drive from home.
