About Darlington

The traditional market town of Darlington with one of the North's finest outdoor markets is under two miles from Park View boasting a thriving town centre with an excellent range of shops, restaurants and leisure amenities. As well as several primary schools close at hand, there is Morrisons, Asda, Tesco, and Sainsbury’s in and around the area offering you ample choice for your grocery shopping. Nearby Cockerton with its cricket matches on the village green has more amenities including a Co-operative food store and Post Office.

Retail choices include shopping centres at High Row, Northgate, Cornmill Centre and Queen Street Arcade and for Designer Chic, Imperial Quarter. Restaurants and bars in Darlington cater for all tastes and occasions from Indian and Italian to Thai and Tapas. The town also offers a good range of leisure facilities - in addition to the Dolphin Leisure Centre with its sports and fitness activities, Stressholme and Blackwell Grange’s parkland settings offer convenient golf courses. For Sunday strolls South Park is a 90 acre all-year round oasis with its lakes and swans - and a feast of colours and scents when the town is in full bloom.

Darlington’s rhythms range from the carnival and summer festival to blues and jazz events at Darlington Arts Centre - with more venues at the Civic Theatre and hot new music venue The Forum. Autumn sees the Beer and Music festival and November the annual Firework display.

Outside the town there is also much to enjoy - the surrounding area of The Tees Valley offers ever-changing landscapes from sandy beaches and high cliffs to wild unspoilt moorland. While the riverside paths, lanes and bridleways, rolling countryside make this area so special. For a great day out, head to the Yorkshire coast with its smugglers’ coves, the North Yorkshire Moors and Dales. Park View is also perfectly placed for the A1(M) - and is under 8 miles from Durham Tees Valley airport.
