Welcome to Heaton Moor, Stockport

Heaton Moor is a popular residential suburb of Stockport, characterised by its Victorian houses and tree lined streets. It is around two miles from the centre of Stockport and around six miles from the middle of Manchester.

 

Education

Schools close to these new homes in Heaton Moor lie within the boundaries of Stockport local education authority. These include Tithe Barn Primary, St Thomas CE Primary, Broadstone Hall Primary, and Charnwood Nursery. There are also several independent schools in the area.

Secondary education is offered by a number of providers, including Priestnall School and Burnage Academy for Boys, while Heaton School focuses on education for pupils with learning difficulties.

The village of Heaton Moor benefits from a number of long established shops on Heaton Moor Road, which date back to 1892 and now form part of the Heaton Moor Conservation Area. Slightly further afield, Stockport boasts several retail destinations, including the Peel Centre and Merseyway Shopping Centre, the town’s Victorian market hall and street market, and the historic Underbanks area.

Manchester’s Trafford Centre, off the M60, and the Arndale Centre, in the heart of the city, attract visitors in their thousands, eager to experience the more than 200 shops in each, as well as their numerous cafés, takeaways and restaurants.

Remaining in the village, West Heaton Bowling, Tennis and Squash Club has two squash courts, six floodlit tennis courts and a floodlit bowling green, while in Stockport, five-a-side fans are catered for with 10 all-weather, floodlit pitches at the Powerleague soccer centre.

 

Transport

For rail travellers, Heaton Chapel station is less than half a mile from Heaton Manor, with regular services into Manchester Piccadilly, Stockport, Crewe, Bolton and Buxton.
