When Neighbours Become Good Friends at Mayfield Park

When Sundar (38) & Priya (37) Ganesh and their nine year old daughter, Lakshana moved into their four bedroom house at Mayfield Park, in Carshalton Beeches with Bellway Homes’ Help to Buy scheme, they were so delighted that they recommended the house next door to their old neighbours, to be reunited again.

Sundar explains, “My wife and I were renting an apartment in Croydon for six years when we decided to purchase our first home in Carshalton Beeches. Our daughter really wanted to continue her education locally, and we ideally wanted her to be in the catchment area of Sutton Borough for her next steps. We viewed pictures and the plans of the four bedroom home we desired and put the deposit down there and then with aid from the Help to Buy scheme. We were very happy that the whole process took less than four months, it went by so smoothly.”

“Our rent used to be £1,150 a month, but now we are paying slightly above our usual rent, which is great as all that money is going straight to our mortgage so nothing is wasted. We also always wanted a new build, as we feel the quality and size is far better than a second hand property. All the maintenance and finishing is done, it looks like a show home, I won’t need to do anything to the house for at least another 10 years!”

Another successful purchase with Help to Buy

So much has been written about the government backed initiative, Help to Buy, and it proved to be a very positive experience for Ross and Charlotte (Charlie) Marshall who bought at the Bellway Homes’ Abbotswood development in Romsey.

“We had lived in Romsey before then moved to Nether Wallop which was more convenient for work, but we decided to move back to Romsey,” explains Charlie. “Our former property was really a DIY project so to now have a brand new home is just fantastic. It is the first time we have bought new and as far as I am concerned it is perfect.”

Ross and Charlie bought a three storey townhouse which is really spacious and is easily able to accommodate, two children, a dog, a cat and a fish!

“It gives us an extra family room downstairs so the children can have their space to play freely, leaving us with a lovely lounge that is calm, cosy and clutter free!” added Charlie. “The style and layout of this house just suits us so well.”

Old Dairy Cows Go Wild in Streatham

Bellway Homes has let three lifesize acrylic cows out to graze at local organisations in Streatham as part of their ‘Design a Cow Hide cowpetition’, highlighting development works on the Valley Road Old Dairy Crest site, which will provide a collection of contemporary two bedroom apartments and four bedroom houses.

Nicky Morton, Sales Director of Bellway Homes South East: “We have been so excited to launch this competition and get involved with the community in Streatham and have been delighted with the competition feedback. Now the cows have gone loose in the local organisations and we are really looking forward to seeing the design entries come through! If anyone spots one of these cows and would like to take part, we welcome everyone to get involved, no matter your age or artistic abilities.”

Speedway stars from Birmingham Brummies cut the ribbon on Bellway’s new apartment block at Leyhill in Northfield, Birmingham.

Bellway plays the generation game at the Oaks

There’s no sign of Bruce Forsyth, however it seems national housebuilder Bellway is playing a generation game of its own, having sold three homes on its ‘The Oaks’ development in Gipton, Leeds, to three generations of the same family.

After discovering they were expecting their first child, Hayleigh Coates, 24 from Leeds, and her fiancé, Mark Austin, 26, purchased a large three bedroom semi-detached home using Bellway’s part exchange scheme – an option that the couple say they "highly recommend” to those wanting to move quickly and with minimal fuss.

Inspired by Hayleigh’s positive feedback on Bellway and the development, her brother, Dan, along with his wife and two young boys, quickly followed them to The Oaks – using the Help to Buy scheme to get themselves onto the property ladder with just a five per cent deposit.
