First Time Buyers Are the First Buyers at New Bellway Site

First-time buyers Rachel and Jacob are enjoying the home they thought they’d never own, thanks to a Bellway scheme for new buyers.

The couple were preparing to spend months saving, and living apart, at their respective parents’ properties. But with the help of Bellway, they have now moved into their brand new three-bedroom home at Hempsted Quay – the very first home they viewed.

Rachel Watts, 30, and partner Jacob Clayton, 27, are the first occupants at the Bellway development on the outskirts of Hempsted village.

Overlooking the canal, Hempsted Quay is an exciting development of 48 new homes, including two, three and four bedroom houses as well as two bedroom apartments.

Situated 10 miles from Cheltenham Spa and within easy reach of the M5 motorway and main commuting lines, the development has properties suitable for first time buyers or for buyers looking to take the next step up the property ladder.

Rachel and Jacob, both laboratory technicians, exchanged on their end-of-terrace house on April 29 this year, moving in as soon as possible.

The couple were not even in the market for buying a house, when Jacob happened upon the property on the Bellway website and read about the group’s NewBuy scheme, which means prospective owners need only find 5 % of the deposit.

Rachel said: “It meant we didn’t have to save for ages for a deposit. We were both living with our parents and expected to be doing so for the foreseeable future.“We had convinced ourselves we’d never be able to afford to buy a place of our own. “But when Jacob found the house, we fell in love with it as soon as we saw it.“The whole process was really smooth from start to finish.”

Rachel added: “We love the location. We both come from the area so it’s perfect for us. It’s close to work, for me it takes just five minutes in the car. It’s lovely to have an en-suite bathroom, again, something we never thought we’d have, along with a garage and off-road parking. We feel very lucky. And the canal views are beautiful.”

Tim Lund, sales manager for Bellway Homes, said: “Hempsted Quay is a fantastic place to make a home. Whether you are a first time buyer or looking for the perfect family home it has everything that you need.

“Almost on the doorstep of the development is Gloucester Quays which has enjoyed massive regeneration in recent years, converting the historic Victorian dockyard into the trendiest part of the city.

This will offer residents a vibrant mix of cafes, bars and restaurants as well as designer outlets and antiques centres. A new 10 screen cinema complex is also planned for 2013.”

Prices at Hempstead Quay start from £129,995. The sales office and show home for the development on Secunda Way, GL2 5DS is now open and can be contacted from 11am until 5pm, Thursday to Monday, on 07805 820753.
