Matthew and his partner Louise both 28 had been living in a two bedroom apartment in Stowmarket for three years on a shared equity basis where they owned twenty five percent of the property and the remaining seventy five percent was owned by Flagship Housing Association.

“We had been watching house prices and mortgage levels for some time and were pretty convinced that now was a good time to buy with mortgage levels being so low,” said Matthew. “Our problem was that there was no way we could afford a twenty percent deposit. We both work and have good jobs, Louise works in Banking and I am a Community Support Office so we thought that we had a good chance of being accepted for a mortgage if we could find one that offered a lower deposit.”

Louise and Matthew bought a three bedroom Carnegie town house and moved into their new home in June putting down a seven percent deposit and taking a ninety three percent mortgage with the Woolwich.

“It’s fantastic to think that we now own one hundred percent of our home rather than paying a mortgage and rent on our old home. At Juniper Walk we have found a larger home with a garden and three bedrooms including an ensuite it’s absolutely perfect,” said Matthew.
