Bellway Buyers Eager to Go Back To School

It appears that new homebuyers in Sheffield are eager to go back to school after five of the 14 apartments in the Old Schoolhouse at Bellway’s Bluecoats development sold within days of being released.

The development, which is being built on the site of the former Bluecoats School on Psalter Lane, S11, will also feature new build apartments, three bedroom townhouses, and four and five bedroom detached homes.

Built in 1911 as a replacement for the school’s original premises on East Parade, the now Grade II listed school building was part of the national Bluecoats School movement, which provided education for orphaned and homeless boys. It closed in 1939 following requisition by the Army and has subsequently housed the city’s Art College – with Wallace & Grommet creator, Nick Parks being its most famous former student.

Melanie Smith, Bellway’s Yorkshire sales manager, said: “Interest in this site has been high from the off and the reasons for it are plentiful. The 14 properties in the Old Schoolhouse comprise 12 two and three bedroom apartments and two duplexes. Prices for the remaining seven start at £249,995.

Bellway has also just released the development’s detached homes. Featuring five different styles of four and five bedroom houses, all of them provide luxurious and spacious accommodation that will quickly make a house a home for any family.

Although for larger families, Bellway has included the Mayfield Special and the Castleton Special, both of which boast additional living space over an integral double garage that can be used for anything from an additional bedroom through to a separate games room. Prices for the detached homes start at £449,995.
