Army Soldier Gets a Helping Hand from Bellway Homes

A young Army soldier from Swansea has more than one reason to celebrate, after moving into a brand new home and announcing his engagement.

23 year-old Graeme Nicholson Upcott has spent more than seven years in the Army, in the Royal Signals. After visiting Bellway Home’s Parc Penderri development in Swansea, Graeme and his partner, Amanda learned that they could benefit from an Armed Forces discount offered by Bellway, to help support them in the purchase of a new home.

The pair were further supported by Bellway Homes’ Helping Hand scheme, an initiative which allowed Graeme’s grandparents to provide financial assistance in the purchase of the couple’s new three-bedroom, semi-detached property at Parc Penderri.

The Helping Hand scheme enables buyers who have a friend or family member able to lend them up to 20% of the price of a new home.

Graeme said: “The Helping Hand scheme and Armed Forces discount were a huge help and certainly big selling points for us. With help from both buying solutions we were able to move into the home we wanted, with far less of a financial burden.”

Just weeks after moving into their new home at Parc Penderri, the couple announced their engagement. They will now enjoy life in their new home at Bellway’s semi-rural development in the heart of Penllergaer village, Swansea. Just four miles from Swansea city centre, Parc Penderri is also within close proximity of the M4 motorway, making it easy for Graeme to travel home from duty at the weekends.

Denise Swift, sales manager at Bellway Homes, said: “At Bellway Homes we pride ourselves on being able to offer a great range of alternative buying solutions to meet the needs of prospective purchasers. We offer the advice and assistance to ensure that moving into a new home can be as simple and stress-free as possible, together with the financial support to remove unnecessary burdens on home buyers.

“Graeme and Amanda are the perfect example of a couple who have successfully benefited from our Armed Forces Discount and Helping Hand scheme enabling them to secure the home they wanted at a more affordable price. Graeme’s grandparents have also benefited from a guaranteed interest rate of 12.5% for two years for their contribution, which was a larger return than they had previously received on their savings.”

The sought after development of Parc Penderri consists of two, three, four and five--bedroom new-build homes, located alongside established woodland, the development is also within a short distance of the local primary school and amenities, making it a very popular location for couples and families.
