Belverdere Park Tempting Buyers to Cross the River for a Great Home

Bellway Homes’ Belvedere Park scheme is offering first time buyers a wonderful opportunity to buy a beautiful new home, join a new community and enjoy the great open spaces and local nature reserve.

Belvedere Park tempted first time buyer Damian Fichardo and his family to move south of the river and they were both pleased and surprised to discover an established and friendly community.  Damian, his wife Karolina and young daughters Nicola and Marika recently welcomed London Mayor Boris Johnson into their home and explained to him how First Buy, through the Mayor’s ‘First Steps’ scheme has enabled them to buy their first home.

Speaking about buying at Belvedere Park, Damian commented “Before we moved we had been living in Haringey and Watford in affordable rental properties but really wanted to buy our own home.  I work for Transport for London but neither my wife nor I qualified for key worker or local resident assistance schemes.  We were delighted when we learned that we could apply to buy a home using First Buy and began to look for a suitable property.

“We chose Belvedere Park because it met all our requirements and offers a good home for our family.  The process of buying was very easy but being first time buyers the whole experience was new and a bit daunting.  However, the sales staff were professional and made us feel comfortable.  The scheme pre-determines which mortgage advisor, solicitors and bank can be used making the whole process smooth.

Speaking about his new home, Damian continues “Our apartment is fantastic; it is a modern design, airy and has large windows that lets natural light stream in.  My wife and I love the en-suite bathroom and we all enjoy spending time on the balcony.  We also have storage space for our bikes and allocated car parking.  Our home is a short walk from my daughters’ school; it’s a lovely quiet area close to parks and Crossness Nature Reserve, which the children really enjoy.

“As a proud north Londoner moving south of the river was scary as I wasn’t familiar with the area, but I am very happy we came to live here and can see no reason for moving out of the area in future years.”

Belvedere Park is a beautifully designed scheme offering buyers one and two bedroom apartments.  Most homes offer a master bedroom with en-suite facilities and fitted wardrobes, a second bedroom and family bathroom.  The living areas and kitchens are open plan with contemporary kitchens complete with a range of integrated appliances, including oven, hob and cooker hood, as well as a fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer.

Belvedere railway station is just a 10 minute walk from the development, offering regular services to London Bridge and Cannon Street in 34 minutes.  The development is also served by many bus services to the local area and will welcome Crossrail services from nearby Abbey Wood in 2018.

The London Borough of Bexley is home to over 100 parks and open spaces covering over 683 hectares, from small, pretty gardens to beautiful river and woodland areas for long walks and rambling.  For those keen on exercise Thamesmere Leisure Centre is just over 5 minutes from the development and provides a state of the art fitness facility boasting swimming pools, extensive fitness suites, sports halls and dance studios. The local community is also active and offers a wide range of sports clubs from cricket, table tennis and fencing to belly dancing and amateur boxing.

The nearby town of Bexleyheath is a well-equipped and bustling high street offering independent shops and high street stalwarts.  For true shopaholics, Bluewater Shopping Centre is just a 25 minute drive away.

The development has proved to be very popular and Bellway Homes is accelerating the build programme for the third phase, Brise Apartments, which launched in October 2013.  The Brise Apartments offer buyers a range of attractive one and two bedroom apartments, with prices from £128,995 for a one bedroom and from £153,995 for a two bedroom apartment.  With a selection of 15 apartment types at Belvedere Park, prospective buyers are spoilt for choice.

All apartments can be purchased through the Help to Buy scheme, which offers a Government equity loan of up to 20% of the purchase price, and means that buyers only need to find a 5% deposit and organise a mortgage for the balance of 75%.
