A new home for first time buyers Joanne and Martin and a baby on the way

Keepers Gate in Chelmsley Wood, Solihull is a new residential quarter that forms part of the wider regeneration that is taking place in North Solihull. The homes are designed in a contemporary style with large ground to ceiling windows being a feature of the front elevations and which contribute to the light and airy feel of the internal space. As such it was a significant factor that attracted the attention of first time buyers, Joanne Martin and her partner, Kevin Winters.

Kevin and Joanne both in their twenties had been living with parents and had been looking to move to a two bedroom apartment thinking that was as far as their finances would stretch. But having visited Keepers Gate they both fell in love with Bellway’s three bedroom Eastcote Special house type.

“We had both been saving to buy a new home and knew that now was a good time to buy with interest rates being so low, but we had no idea that we would be able to afford a three bedroom home until Sheila from Bellway explained how the Home Buy Direct arrangement worked. The scheme enabled us to put down a 5% deposit that we could afford and benefit from an interest free loan of £36,487, which means that we have a smaller monthly mortgage. The three bedroom home is really ideal particularly now that I am expecting a baby in September.”

Although the Home Buy Direct deal has now closed Bellway is still able to help first time buyers through its Sharp Start scheme. Sharp Start provides a 15% five year interest free loan and enable the buyer to put down a minimum deposit of 5% and therefore benefit from the lower monthly mortgage payments provided by an 80% mortgage.

Currently Bellway has a range of two, three and four bedroom homes available at Keepers Gate, Arden Court and Scholars Rise starting in price from £122,500.
