Bellway to create exclusive new residential quarter on Sunderland Road, Cleadon Park

Housebuilder, Bellway has announced that it has bought the old Cleadon Park Community Centre on Sunderland Road, South Shields from South Tyneside Council with a development value of circa £6 million.

Land Director at Bellway, Norman Fada, commented: “This is a much sought after secluded residential location within the Cleadon Park area of South Shields. The site has planning permission for 23 large detached homes. Demolition of the old community centre will start in the coming weeks and we hope to have the first new homes build complete by April 2011. Initial inquiries will be handled by our Cleadon Vale Sales office located off King George Road, South Shields.

“The layout of the site and size of homes will appeal to families looking for a traditional designed and built four and five bedroom properties with gardens to the front and rear, consequently due to the exclusivity and mature aspects of the location we expect demand to be very high.”

Councillor Bill Brady, South Tyneside Council’s Lead Member for Housing Futures, said: “Schemes like this help to improve on the range and quality of housing available right across the Borough and it’s good to see that, in the current economic climate, Bellway has the confidence to build large family homes for sale in this area.

“The regeneration of Cleadon Park is changing the face of the estate providing a variety of new homes of mixed tenure and fantastic modern community and health facilities. This new development will add an element of exclusiveness to the area and I’m looking forward to seeing it take shape.”
