Investing in People

The construction industry offers excellent opportunities and career prospects for young people entering the industry.

Young people can progress through their employment, gaining NVQ units that provide a clear recognition of their progress. Currently Bellway employs 33 apprentices. In training and developing their skills we work closely with the Construction Industry Training Board (“CITB”) and local colleges.

Recognising that the industry requires a constant flow of keen students we work with local schools and host school visits. These have a dual purpose of informing young people about health and safety on construction sites but also make them aware of the job opportunities that exist within the house building industry.

During the past year we have initiated a training program for graduates and post A Level school leavers which is designed to train them in housebuilding and associated disciplines through to achieving professional qualifications. The scheme is specifically designed to provide our future managers.
