A Responsible Approach

The business environment is constantly evolving and recent years have seen an increasing emphasis on corporate responsibility. This evolution has been reflected in mounting pressure on business for greater transparency and accountability in environmental and social performance alongside economic performance. We have been reporting openly on these aspects of our business since 2003. During that time we have worked with our stakeholders and established mechanisms through which they can be involved in our environmental and social strategy.

In order to address the effects of climate change we need to become increasingly aware of how we manage our environmental obligations. I am pleased to report that this year the number of Bellway homes sold incorporating elements that reduce our carbon footprint has once again increased. Homes are one of the most important places where we can reduce the use of natural resources and become more energy and water efficient. In conjunction with our planning and supply partners we are continuing to drive forward initiatives that result in energy efficiency savings in all the homes we construct.

To be successful, any environmental policy and social programme must link aspirations with practical objectives. In Bellway’s case this means understanding the environmental and social issues which affect our business and working with the local community to build vibrant and sustainable places to live and work. This website will connect you to all aspects of our business and demonstrates how we apply our principles in practice.”
